Goodnight Sleepy Head

We had a bedtime routine that never failed:

-Bath
-Pajamas
-Bedtime snack
-Prayer
-Read a book or two
-Crib with music playing

After her snack, whether it was fruit, pudding, or a hoho, she walked to the bathroom, climbed onto the toilet, and opened the cupboards to grab her toothbrush/toothpaste.  Ben usually brushed her teeth with her lying on his lap and when finished flashing a smile to show off her clean teeth.  As Ben and I walked into her darkened bedroom it was not long before this little figure zoomed by us collapsing onto her knees and folding her arms for prayer.  Elyse was not able to make it the entire prayer before pushing her way onto whom she wanted to put her to bed.  As prayer ended one of us quietly left the room giving Elyse a hug and kiss while closing the door behind them as the other held Elyse in their arms, turned on her music, and patted her back as she would pat yours.  Elyse would tilt her head back exposing her neck wanting you to give her kisses.  However, as you would lean in to kiss her neck she quickly looked down and giggled.  She knew how ticklish it was!  She then proceeded with giving you a kiss on the cheek, a kiss on the other cheek, and a kiss on the lips.  That usually signaled that she was ready to lie down, as we then laid her in her crib, pulled the covers over her, told her we love her, and closed the door behind us.  It was the perfect bedtime routine!

Hammer

We just moved into the condo on Walnut and 57th in October of 2010 and I was busy putting everything in its place.  My parents stopped by before Ben was home from work and offered to hang a few photos.  As I handed my dad the hammer and nails Elyse dug in her toy chest finding her hammer.  As he pounded the nails into the wall where needed she on the opposite wall pounded away as hard as she could.  It was so precious watching her copy cat her grandpa Turner.  Luckily her hammer was only made of rubber as she might have put a few good dents in the wall if made of anything else.
